Shell LiveWIRE Indonesia proudly announces winners of the Business Start-Up Awards (BSA) 2008. BSA is Shell’s unique entrepreneurship award program, which allows Indonesian young entrepreneurs, 18-32 years old, to showcase their business skills. It is an adaptation of the Shell LiveWIRE global corporate social investment program, which targets to provide opportunities for young Indonesian entrepreneurs to help them gain maximum understanding of business issues in a globalised environment. 9 selected young Indonesian entrepreneurs from 272 entries will each receive Rp 20 million in grant funding along with two years of valuable business counsel and coaching to assist in growing their business. Since 2003, LiveWIRE Indonesia has helped over 1,200 young people to explore the option of starting a business, and has helped many businesses to start up. Darwin Silalahi, President Director and Country Chairman of Shell Indonesia said, “LiveWIRE is part of Shell’s commitment to help build Indonesia’s economy by stimulating growth of SMEs. I am very proud of the BSA winners and hope that they will become role models and inspire young entrepreneurs in future generations. LiveWIRE Indonesia is one of over 20 LiveWIRE programmes supported by Shell around the world to promote the spirit of enterprise in young people. The original LiveWIRE programme was launched in 1982 in the United Kingdom and local variations of the programme are developed in the each country to deliver the most appropriate support to young people as they develop the skills needed to plan, launch and manage new business enterprises. LiveWIRE schemes are financed on a country by country basis by the local Shell company and operate in partnership with local and national Government to facilitate delivery of economic and social inclusion programmes. Shell LiveWIRE programmes are currently operating in 23 countries including: Abu Dhabi; Argentina; Brazil; Brunei; Chile; Egypt; Hong Kong; Indonesia; Iran; Ireland; Libya; Mauritius; Netherlands; Nigeria; Oman; Pakistan; Qatar; Singapore; South Africa; and, the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales). |
